Vombatus ursinus or a wombat is a popular and a favorite animal. It’s size is like the size of a pig. It’s fur is brown and soft. It’s nose is pink and wiggly and it’s eyes are big and dark. They have sharp claws and strong back legs, good for digging. Somehow it reminds everybody a small bear. Wombats live in burrows in forests of Australia, Tasmania, Eastern Victoria and along Eastern ranges in NSW to Queensland. There are three main kind of wombats: the common wombat, the northern hairy nosed wombat, hairy nosed wombat or lasiorhimis latifrons. None of the kinds has enemies. The common wombat moves slow in winter. It hates small fires in it’s burrows. An amazing animal fact – Wombats can often sleep with their four legs sticking up. It eats grass and leaves from the trees. The hairy nosed wombat or lasiorhimis latifrons has a small tail which the common wombat doesn’t have. It can survive without water which it gets from plant material. Wombat’s babies stay in mother’s burrow for two years. The northern hairy wombat is a rare one. And that’s not all about wombats.
